Digital communication of sports organizations with the public: Are changes needed?

Objective The objectives of this competition category are:

  • Registered candidates to acquire practical knowledge and skills.
  • Registered candidates to familiarize themselves with the conditions for study and the possibilities of the faculties that are involved in the implementation of the campaign.
Description The selection of registered candidates is carried out in two stages:

1. Phase of analysis, adaptation, change and testing of new contents 60 %

  • analysis of the content of the website and social media of the sports organization
  • adaptation and changes in the content of the website and social media of the sports organization
  • promotion of new content on the website and social media of the sports organization

2. Stage of public presentation 40%

In the process of teamwork with the students of the sports management study program, you will learn why the interaction of the sports organization with the public becomes important.

How will it be realized?

By choosing the partner sports organization whose digital communication is your research subject, you start with daily communication with the mentors. You will feel their support even when some tasks may seem distant to you. From them you will receive directions for the activities and an explanation of specific tasks within those activities. Your focus will be: sports organization website analysis, sports organization social media analysis, effectiveness of the content shared on the sports organization’s website and social media, assessment of the sports organization’s public engagement metrics (likes, comments or shares of the content published by the sports organization), examining the perception of the sports organization’s brand, proposing adjustments and changes to published contents by you and presentation of those contents to the public.

 Social media analysis Review the organization’s presence on various social media platforms:

• Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok

Determine the number of followers and their growth over a period of one month.

 Content efficiency Evaluate the content of posts against:

  • informativeness
  • interactivity
  • communication with the public (users or followers)
 Statistics to measure the involvement/engagement of the public Analyze metrics such as:

  • likes,
  • shares
  • comments and
  • retweets to measure public engagement levels.
 Brand perception: Conduct a short survey questionnaire in class about the brand experience and its communication engagement with the public: “Ask a classmate”
 SWOT analysis
  • Determine the advantages and disadvantages (strengths and weaknesses) of the sports organization’s digital communication strategy;
  • Determine the opportunities and threats of the sports organization’s digital communication strategy;
 Adjustments and modification of the content Define at least two innovative solutions to improve digital communication:

• Example creation of new content (example video, podcasts, etc..)

Testing period of the new content (optional) Implement and determine content metrics against previous:

• How many likes, how many shares…

Launch of the new content Present the ways of informing about the introduction of new content

The training process will be carried out in two ways: in the premises of AUE FON Skopje and a visit to the sports organization – a partner in the process. Daily communication with the mentors of the task will be realized through a virtual platform (Teams на Office365).
